When you are married, can one spouse just file bankruptcy?

If I file bankruptcy on a credit card in my name, will it affect my spouse in any way? And if I file bankruptcy do I still have to pay anything? When you are married, can one spouse just file bankruptcy?
As long as you don't live in a community property State like AZ, CA, ID, LA, NV, NM, TX, WA or WI there is no reason that you can't file without your Husband and there will be no effect on his credit.

As far as paying anything it will depend on what chapter your allowed to file, if you file chapter 7 you will pay nothing if on the other hand your forced into chapter 13 you will have to pay a percentage of your debt back.
