When you join the military, and you fill out your paper work at reception, why do they ask if spouse is in jail?

one of the questions on the the papers was is spouse incarcerated over one year,im wondering what is the reason for this? When you join the military, and you fill out your paper work at reception, why do they ask if spouse is in jail?
Security !!!!When you join the military, and you fill out your paper work at reception, why do they ask if spouse is in jail?
Both those answers are correct. It is entered into DEERs and you do not receive the money for her as well as it keeps her from being issued an ID card and having access and privileges until they can do an investigation and determine if they should give her one.
I guess they don't have to worry about on post housing then.

; )
If your wife is in jail, there will be no spousal support. The military dosen't want to pay more than they have to.
Security !!!!

I second that :)
I believe it is because if your spouse is incarcerated then you do not get the monthly housing allowance, not entirely sure though.
